Those early years found the firm excavating clay from their property for Mauer Hollow Tile Company for use in building the Lincoln Tunnel. Almasi also supplied clay for the Valentine Brick Company, allowing the firm to be recognized as suppliers of some of the best clay around. They supplied most of the clay for tennis courts in New York City and infield clay mixes for major league baseball stadiums in the northeast. Material mining and hauling was a special talent that served Almasi well and naturally led the family toward the field of construction. Some of their first major projects involved the construction of tank foundations, soil remediation and related site work.

In the last quarter century, under the leadership of Bill Almasi and Anne Marie Almasi, Almasi Contractors and Almasi Companies have evolved into a full service site work and specialized utility installations contractor. Almasi Contractors has completed difficult challenges for many major pharmaceutical companies by installing utilities, often in tight quarters utilizing sub-grade trenches, constructing deep tunnels and unique concrete construction. Work for other companies has included repairing serious slope failures and installing drainage outlets, demolishing and removing concrete flooring and footings, backfilling abandoned pits and excavating for new pits.

Almasi Contractors increased its efforts in public construction after completing two school projects in Jersey City and the New Jersey State Police Emergency Operations Headquarters in Trenton. In each case they specialized in site clearing, utilities installation, excavation and soil remediation. Recent jobs have included Rutgers University in Piscataway, Devils Arena in Newark, The Georgian Court Wellness Center in Lakewood and the New Meadowlands Stadium in East Rutherford.

Despite the expansion, Almasi Contractors is still active within the trucking industry. Their fleets of trucks run throughout the year, switching to snow removal for numerous public and private clients in the winter months. In addition to the extensive fleet of trucks, Almasi utilizes more than 75 pieces of construction equipment.
